In a few hours, 4 of us will get to St. Bees where we start a 192 mile stroll across the Lakes, Dale's and NY moors to Robin Hoods Bay.

As an added bonus, won't be on here much for the next 3 weeks...at least during the day.. Taking 3 weeks with 3 rest days built in...

All funds raised to the absolutely brilliant RNLI, can't think of a better charity.

After the driest Summer on record you'll probably get rain everyday!

Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

And a good time to make a donation to the RNLI so done.

Impressive, the most I have managed in one go is the hundred mile Cleveland Way (although I have walked the Osmotherly to Robin Hood's Bay Lyke Wake Walk in a single day - don't get waylaid in The Lion Inn for too long...)

I'll drop a few quid in the RNLI box at Kyle of Lochalsh or Mallaig next time I'm passing one.

I did it back in 2009, great memories. May the wind always be at your back and you don’t fall in waist deep at Nine Standards Rigg

I see what you've done here, great choice. Steve Ignorant volunteers at Hemsby so have donated despite them clearly being an @narchist front.
Where will you be next weekend I can try to get Junior to drive us up and cheer you on.

Ps....couldn't you go a bit faster ffs.

Glad the weather has cooled for you. Would have been hard graft a month ago. Sounds fun (at least until the feet get sore !) .

Can’t believe someone’s doing all that walking in flip flops. Kudos!

I did it in ‘89 with full camping gear - one of the best holidays I ever had!

That happened last time the racist wing nuts had a go at them. Silver linings and all that.

Day 1. 15.7km

Landslips have closed parts of the coastal path and a diversion goes in land to Cleator. All the tour companies insist clients take the new route mainly as the coastal path has a prohibition order and taking it requires jumping a few fences, some trespass and an additional 4 miles over the less challenging inland route, whilst dodging the collapsed cliffs.

Three opted for the safer inland route and one awkward sod decided he wanted to hike Wainwright's original route irrespective of the official advice.

Was really pretty, plenty of ups and downs, one fence I bunked was covered in barbed wire but I got to Cleator just 40 mins after the other three who went in land.

Dent Hill today, once the rain clears...

Excellent news, and well done for sticking to the Wainwright. Dent is a nice wee village, I went through there on The Dales Way many moons ago.

No worries, they're wearing lifejackets so should survive even Yorkshire monsoons :)
