I'm not trying to slate Greaves too much as I think overall he has done okay.
But I was really disappointed with Liverpool's 2nd goal and Greaves defending. He must have been standing a metre off him and surely in that situation he needs to get a lot tighter to him. Allowing a player of Isak's quality enough space to twist, turn and manipulate the ball is surely inviting him to get a shot away. He surely needs to learn from this as it seems very naive at this level.
I don't think Scherpen is at fault personally. He needs better protection from defence. |  | | |  |

Very good point and I hadn't even considered that. Watching the goal back Diop was far too high up the pitch and his light-hearted jog back was pathetic. Thanks for pointing that out. | | | |

Once it got to Isak, he was always likely to get a shot away against Greaves. I would rather look further back at the build-up than blame Greaves when left one-on-one with Isak.

Diop and Scherpen both ball watching, the pass from Gakpo caught them out as it was sublime, by then too late for Scherpen to go back and Greaves actually did well initially to cover.
Worth remembering that’s why the two Liverpool players involved are valued at a combined worth of £200+ million. |  | | |

Oh, he could have done better, but it's a bit of a mismatch. He's not a great one-on-one defender at this level. There were much bigger and worse issues, and very basic things in the build-up, which caused us to be in that position. | | | |
