I haven't seen it but listening on the radio the initial reaction from the commentator was muted. However, Brenner then said the reaction of the Town players suggested it was a very bad challenge. Either you or he is wrong about their reaction. Brenner then, seeing a replay, said it was a very bad challenge above his knee and a clear red card.

If you were right it wouldn't be a red

Brenner needs his eyes testing. Its a ball cushioned back to Clark & Disasi stretches for it, misses and studs to Clark's shin. It's a red these days, but certainly not a nasty challenge. As for the angry Town players, yes they are looking for a red, but not outraged with Disasi about the challenge. [Post edited 12 Sep 17:09]

1... it is a modern day red. 2... You think refs get every decision right? McGuires handball?

To answer your second point, I think Mullet was referring to this: "It was a clear red, but not aggressive or using excessive force" Which rule makes a challenge that is simply mistimed and neither aggressive nor using excessive force a clear red card?

Brenner's forgetting that unlike other players Clarke's socks and pads only go halfway up his shins - was definitely below the knee

I love that explanation! I look forward to seeing it myself from more than one angle.

Think it was badly timed as opposed to malicious, but really was very dangerous.

What you haven't understood is that the outcome of that was not in Disasi's control - if Clarke had his foot planted when he hit him it's a potential leg breaker - definitely a red card, because he's made a reckless, out of control, studs up challenge endangering an opponent.
