Palacios & Lukic are both great midfield options, but as a partnership against PL opposition, they are too open & lose their shape too often. For me, when playing with 2 in the middle, it should be one of Palacios & Lukic alongside one of Luis & Matusiwa, depending on fitness & form. We looked so much better, immediately, when Luis came on & started to win possession & block off the central movement from Palace. (I appreciate that it was a different game by that point, but believe it holds true) An opportunity to fresh up in the Cup v Arsenal, but I'd be looking to start Palacios & Luis against Armstrong & Hackney/Jim Rockford next Saturday.

Agree. For some people if a player does score or create they see them as being quiet. Truth was palacios's passing and positioning was brilliant. Kept things ticking over, made himself available and also a couple of times great tracking back with runners- he made things look easy.

Yes, he's a deep-lying playmaker and a lot of that is invisible, understated work. Match stats have him with most completed passes for both teams, highest pass completion, 2nd most touches (behind the Palace CB we were funneling the ball towards), most distance covered, 2nd most defensive contributions (behind Timber).

He was getting dragged deeper and deeper as our defence wasn't coping or clearing lines well enough, When we sort this out you will see his true worth though I thought he was good today
