If last night proved anything about this, it is that they got it completely wrong with the £30 pricing. The result was an estimated 2000-2500 away fans in home sections, as well as the 3000 away allocation.
Those home fans who did get tickets will go away having experienced one of the worst atmospheres in recent seasons.

Many of us regulars didn't go, and won't go to cup games on principle. I think all but 1 of our group stayed home for this one, and Leicester. Just a waste of time going to Ipswich in the cup.
It's been this way since the McCarthy end of the Evans days, but we treat cup fixtures like reserve games, the club has no interest in them at all, if they charged a cheaper rate for the game, and offered it to our supporters, i'd have less issue, but they put a premium price on what they knew they were going to treat as a reserve fixture they couldn't care less about.
Of course the people will say "they have to make money" but due to media rights and the league we are in now, as proven by Brentford and Bournemouth, you don't need an actual crowd or fanbase to make money anymore, we could afford to be more generous but we opted to cash in, and thats the result is the home tickets were bought by people wanting to see Arsenal as an experience, because most of us Town regulars knew the drill and it wasn't worth the time/money to turn out, we won't do for the FA Cup either, save your money and stay home. |
What if we draw Norwich at home in the Cup? You’d go to that, surely?
Ironically - and I know it was very different times back then - but if we’d treated Villa at home in the cup in 81 as a reserve game we’d likely have another league title to our name and possibly a European Cup, too. |  |

I believe the reason being given by stewards for even the shirted fans not being ejected, was the sheer volume of away fans being both present and vocal in home sections. This needs looking at for future cup games and home games against bigger clubs which see swathes of ST holders selling ticket on. | | | |

How many tourists are in Ipswich on a Tuesday in September and how many of those would want to go to a football match.
Or are you meaning those Ipswich fans who don't regularly or ever attend matches who managed to get a ticket last night.
If there's one ugly thing that our recent relative profile and success has revealed is the number of Ipswich fans who resent the new fans or those now attending or supporting because of getting into the Premiership. Unless you've done ten years of Mick and Lambert then you are glory hunting or plastic and don't deserve to get a ticket to watch us play Liverpool.
I've supported Ipswich for 51 years and have travelled all over Europe and from Yorkshire and Ireland through all the times those 51 years have brought. I was at Exeter and Fleetwood and Forest Green (that fecking hill) and every other ground in League 1. It was easy to support Ipswich 50 years ago. They were the best team in England. But I have no issue with new fans joining in now even if means I can't get a ticket. Our success attracts new fans and we need them. Some will drop away if the Club stops winning, but some won't. Some will stay with us, like I did.

How do you know how that the number of fans who are not regulars is limited? My first match was in 1967. I have been to games at Fleetwood, Chester, Accrington amongst other exotic places. I moved to Lancashire in 1990 and so impossible to get tickets now. So last night was probably my only chance to watch Town this season which is why my son and I made the long journey to see the game. We cannot be described as tourists and I am sure there are many fans in the same boat as me.
I was happy to pay 30 and we enjoyed the match despite the result. After weathering the poor start, many of Town's reserve players made a good fist of it and being able to see some of those top class Arsenal players live was a plus in my eyes.
Why so much negativity on here? - up to 3 years ago I never thought I would be alive to see Town in the Premier League again, having been so lucky to see then in the 70's and early 80's. Lets enjoy the ride. | | | |
