I think we are probably overestimating KMs stock in the eyes of these struggling PL clubs.
I predict his next managerial job (if he takes one at all) will be back in The Championship, with one of the teams that drop end of this season. They will view him as a promotion specialist, and by that time the compo required will be much reduced, possibly zero (unsure what was agreed on this).
Edit - possibly if there's a big PL team looking in real trouble come Jan/Feb time they will take a punt on KM doing a rescue job for them, but also with half an eye on retaining him for promotion the following year if it doesn't work out. But this still depends on them being willing to fork out whatever compo is remaining on his contract, and on him feeling ready to return to work after less than a year out. [Post edited 21 Sep 9:24]

I'd be stunned if he ended up at Birmingham or Wrexham- next steps for McKenna will be to a big club and despite people having disdain for the SPL and even the club as a whole, Celtic are a massive club who have millions upon millions they've been sitting on and hoarding and are currently ambling along with a club legend, while they figure out what their next move is.
I think it's significantly more likely that he stays in England, but Celtic would be a wonderful project for Kieran and he'd undoubtedly become a club legend. |  | | |

Prem move might be on the cards if one of Bournemouth/ Fulham / Everton / Palace come calling but would have to be the right timing as I don't think he'll be seen as someone to win a relegation battle. He's unproven in the Prem, so no way Spurs or Man Utd would appoint him.
Can't see him going to Scotland, so I would imagine he'll take on a similar project to us. Maybe Southampton once their gaffer is banned. |  |

Although I do think the expectations of where he will end up are over estimated by some, I think there is little to no chance of his next job being back in the championship. Wouldn't make any sense at all despite how hard these clubs might go for him |  | | |

He’s not unproven in the PL - many fans of other PL clubs will simply view KM as a manager who has finished second three times and then got chewed and spat out by the PL.
Yes, most of us think that he’s a great coach but I’m not sure that that assessment of him is shared by other clubs fans. If he decides to go back into football management, it might well be a case of joining a championship side (with parachute payments) and then working back to the PL from there. |  | | |
