Buckets. Everyone is putting things in buckets these days. We no longer have groups or categories or themes or strands. Just buckets. If I was still at the my old place, I’d take great delight in telling them that their buckets all have holes in.

Not sure if this will work, but here's my normal response to someone using the current favoured buzzword replacement for 'contact'

i don't know why i hate 'reach out' so much. perhaps the context it which it first emerged carried more than just 'contact' - there was a hint of neediness and 'implore' and fake sincerity about it. i hate it.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Got to have something to empty the silos with...
'overcoming silo thinking' is management speak for imposing the view of the centre, just as 'deep dive' means using a superficial process to justify the conclusions the centre has already reached.

Confused on this. Silos distribute contents to the middle for distribution. So wouldn't "overcoming silo thinking" be the opposite to that , i.e encourage p.o.vs away from the central group speak. Not that I have any real corporate background, it is more about the logic?

i think in corporate gobbledygook silo is usually a metaphor for something self-contained or isolated. i guess it comes from the military sense of a silo?

That pretty much covers it I think.

I don't mind stakeholder, it indicates that there are more involved in an enterprise than the shareholders (and if you lose the stakeholders because you don't engage with them then you are in danger of the enterprise failing if you cannot find sufficiently good other stakeholders.)
We haven't tackled replacing meaningful words with just their initial letters yet though (you may have noticed from my posting that I am averse to that.) So instead of playing the bullsh!t bingo game an alternative is to use TLA every now and again and see how long it is before someone asks you what that stands for.

I could give a specific example where ' after consultation with stakeholders, positive changes x y and z' are not going ahead.
To this day I have a strong suspicion about who pulled that string but no one will actually say...

I was thinking of grain silos. Shows how stupid corporate speak is if the meaning of it is not easily apparent.
I think of grain silos too, and when the term first appeared maybe three decades ago it made perfect sense to me as I had seen closely guarded departmental empires engaged in finding various ways to snag other departments despite their actions not being for the corporate good. So easy to forget why so many of these business terms served a useful purpose when they were first coined, they helped communicate organisational issues, but then got overused and used in the wrong context.

I once read a company document entitled "Good Practice in Report Writing" or something similar.
I promise this is not made up but included in said opus was the advice, "Avoid the use of TLAs". Literally that.
