The way that the residents were treated before and after the disaster for many years by the National Coal Board, successive governments and people in authority was an absolute disgrace.

Dedicated the whole programme to it. It was followed by a documentary that I hope to catch up with tonight.

He didn't talk much about it in the following years, but I think it affected him hugely (and that's nothing compared to the families who lost loved ones).

The entire process after the disaster was criminal. Harold Wilson's government used some of the money donated by the public for the bereaved families to pay for removing the tip. I think they even planned to use some of that money to fight a court battle against the the bereaved families. Wilson was such a scumbag

I very much doubt that Wilson was involved i making these decisions personally My impression of him is that he was a decent, if slightly devious, man However, this is a thread about those poor victims of Aberfan tragedy, not political jousting R I P to all those that suffered in that terrible event

Similarly I remember the teacher at Castle Hill Primary telling us the morning after, I would have been nine years old I think. Even at that young age we could appreciate how awful it must have been for a tight knit community, the compassion for them was felt all across these islands. [Post edited 21 Oct 15:19]
