He did very well last night in those conditions, especially as he is frequently the 'out ball' when our defenders slip/panic/run out of ideas.

Scherpen wasn't an upgrade from what I've seen. Solid keeper who's done great for us over the years. This dislike of him seems a bit tribal ie Walton vs Scherpen.

He does but theyre classed as unlucky when he does them. Last night no issues however. Nothing great. Nothing bad. Solid job.

Nothing great ? Apart from the 4-5 saves he made keeping us in the game and the toe he got on MGW’s goal bound shot before Leif cleared it.

I dont have a dislike. After all he was a very important part of our promotions. I dont feel hes good enough for prem in general tho. I feel he saves the shots that are down his throat but doesnr seem to get near anything that requires quick feet and movement. But thats ok. All players have weaknesses i feel thats his. But he seems to be in for now so we have to accept it and games like last night are fine.

He made three saves in total. No issue with that of course thats wjat hes there for and the toe you speak of was going in if it werent for leif so cant really class that as a save however. A solid evenings work however and thats all we need

"I dont feel hes good enough for prem in general tho." Which is why it's like pullingn teeth for you to give him any credit. You've already nailed your colours to the mast.

Exactly, solid nights worth for him, kicking wasn’t amazing but tough in a storm. Saves were comfortable, Forest missed some decent chances off target. I don’t think there was much to discuss last night and that’s a good thing. I was more concerned with our defending from set pieces, had some very good headed opportunities.

I didn't say you've not given him credit, I said it's like pulling teeth - i.e. reluctantly and with caveats. Like, for example, not giving him credit for the toe that slowed the ball allowing Leif to clear. They praised it on the telly. Also, my "pulling teeth" comment was about generally, not specifically last night. [Post edited 24 Oct 16:47]

I think when he's had pelters from some quarters, like suggesting he's the worst keeper in the league and/or not a Prem keeper, then it's nice to give some credit where credit's due.

It wasnt reluctantly. I said it in my very first reply to your post. The toe. Sorry flash. Forget who it is. Even if it was scherpen palmer who ever its a toe in desperate bid when diving away from where the ball is going. If leif isnt there its going in so no i cant say that was a great save. And in regards to generally. Ill give credit where its due. But wont pretend a save is amazing when its not. I think thats ok and where opinions can differ without it being an issue. All in all he had a sold evening between the sticks. I dont think it warranted much of a discussion which is why no one really had mentioned him. But.. the fact he wasnt mentioned can also be seen as good as there wasnt really any talking points.

His toe getting on the ball took a lot of the pace off it, making it easier for Lief to clear off the line. It was a very good touch.

His kicking was absolutely fine on a night with difficult conditions. Deserves to be praised for some of those saves.

| Haven't seen much chat about Walton on 18:56 - Oct 24 with 1033 views | armchaircritic59 | What usually happens is when a player who some don't like has a decent or better game, they go silent. Waiting in hope for the next time they can have a rant. Rather similar to Kasey McAteer last season. | | | |

The downvote was because it was simply the ball hitting a toe of a keeper diving the opposite direction, theres no save made, It was still going in regardless of the touch. Its all about davis excellent danger awareness imo. As i said no matter what keeper did that id say the same. So no not frimley back to usual. Just a poster not seeing the same as you just like some said diop red. Some said not. Even seen some say not a foul.

When I said reluctantly and with caveats, I meant generally. However, these are all comments by you just in this thread (which I started to give him props for last night); "Nothing great. I dont feel hes good enough for prem in general tho." "I feel he saves the shots that are down his throat but doesnr seem to get near anything that requires quick feet and movement." "he seems to be in for now so we have to accept it" "cant really class that as a save" That's exactly what I mean by reluctantly and with caveats. Walton's toe stopped the ball going directly in (slowing it enough for Leif to clear). It was deliberate, thus a save. Last night's performance warranted a mention, as I say, because he'd been getting pelters previously.

If it was worth a mention it would have been said by someone else Considering theres so many fans out there. Re watch the toe tap. It didnt help the situation as even without it davis was stopping it. It happened not denying it hit his toe but it didnt change the situation for me to view it as a save. You seem determined that everyone has to rate him. Hes got pelters before because he let some goals in he should have saved. No more no less. He got no mentions last night as he did the standard job of a keeper. It was soild. Take the solid and move on.
