Everton are in for this player and so should we be.

He is out and out finisher and only 22. No idea of his value, standard deal of 20 - 30 m + bolt ons I guess. International and European experience.

Hopefully if we are where we want to be in January, Town will be making a bid, maybe Herman can have a word.

Or you haven't looked into his attributes properly as you evidence in your first line.

1. He has a clocked running speed of 34.74kph which he clocked for Villa in the prem and made him Villas fastest player that season ahead of the likes of Ollie Watkins. For reference that's ahead of any Ipswich player this season (Leif Davis and Enciso coming closest). Philogene not being quick is a false observation.

2. Not having the ability to work space is a bizarre stick to beat him with as that's one of his best attributes and he probably only Enciso and possibly Fatawu in our squad could have an argument for doing that better in our squad. He has much tighter ball control in tight areas than say Jack Clarke (who I also like).

3. He was 22 when last having a prem campaign. Scored 2 goals for us whilst still raw. He's ust coming back from Injury this time and had one start. How is anyone judging him yet?! Feels like the same people as start of last season who swiftly proven wrong.

4. Really highly rated as an England u21 ahead of Omari actually.

I'm saying he has the attributes because he has. Whether he has the toughness, luck and desire to fulfil his potential remains to be seen. Personally think he's developed really well. Work rate and defensive/press came on last season a lot.

I think people don't like the lad and have decided he's some sort of mercenary because of his agent. But unfair but ok. Definitely clouded judgements going on though

Think you've just got to use you're eyes when watching games really. O'Shea's running speed stat had him as the quickest defender in the Prem last time around or something like that and we all know that isn't all that relevant in reality.

1. If he has pace he's been unable so far to use it in a Prem environment.

2. One of his best attributes *in the Championship

3.Those two goals were pretty dodgy goals in the Man Utd game from memory. I accept he's been injured and it might take him time to get up to speed, but previous evidence both with us and Villa points to him just not being up to it.

4. Irrelevant

I've got no problem with Philogene but on balance rather have the £25 mill back for him if we can get it to spend elsewhere.

Flemming was obviously needed for the start of this season, by January we will know a lot more about how this is likely to go for the summer window.

He feels the kind of signing Mick would have made to patch it up a bit, but on a free transfer, not 20m.

Absolutely horrific take that

He very much felt like the last resort as we needed someone in that position.

Maybe he will come good as against Forest he looked like Leon Best.

Bit harsh!

He won't be off for half his value. Why on earth would be selling him for significantly less than we bought him when we don't have any need to sell and he's worth more!

I suspect he's perfectly content playing football in a better team then expected early summer. Important player for us

I am not sure why people think he should be written off after 2 matches and 2 sub appearances returning from injury. It smacks to me of people who made their mind up when he was supposedly touting himself for a move in the summer. Perhaps (if he was) that's because he is fed up with being written off by fickle fans at the first opportunity to do so!

If a Championship club was going to sign him they would have to pay wages that would attract him to sign. If they are that keen to sign a player with Premier League quality who is clearly amongst the best in the Championship, they will happily pay Championship record fees for them too. I can't see us accepting anything below £20M very minimum.

You may think Philogene has not progressed at all since he signed for Villa a little over 2 years ago but I would say he is a better player now than when we signed him. It took him time to settle then and some wrote him off and he is taking time to get up to speed after injury but there is a reason why he has started 2 of the last 3 matches and been in every match day squad since he got fit.

I don't know at this point if we are just arguing different things. I said he has the attributes to play at the top level. You said he hasn't. I explained with some evidence and proof and reasons why he does.

But you are now arguing a different point I think that he hasn't shown it. That's different. Point 4 wasn't irrelevant. Multiple managers see him as having elite attributes - McKenna, O'Neil, Unai (yes I know they ultimately.soldmhim but they saw the the potential but ultimately took the quick profit) and the u21 set up. I completely agree he has to fulfil his potential. He's young and I'm just saying he capable and that I don't like the rhetoric recently.

They weren't great goals against United for balance and agreement 😂

Given the outlay over the summer I fear that incomings might be as a result of outgoings.
I don't know, of course, but we must be close to our limit.

We'd need to clear the likes of McAteer, Taylor, Mehmeti and maybe some loan fees for some

How much could that yield?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Harsh. Zian has a lot of quality with his feet and has scored two in not many minutes.

Think he's a quality addition. I do think you are bang on we needed him/a striker in the building and suspect he wasn't one of our top picks because he came late and also doesn't quite fit with our style. Saying that it's good to have a different profile and he's a quality player.

Let's hope he gets on today and scores. Why not.
