Everton are in for this player and so should we be.

He is out and out finisher and only 22. No idea of his value, standard deal of 20 - 30 m + bolt ons I guess. International and European experience.

Hopefully if we are where we want to be in January, Town will be making a bid, maybe Herman can have a word.

Given the outlay over the summer I fear that incomings might be as a result of outgoings.
I don't know, of course, but we must be close to our limit.

There would need to be outgoings in terms of squad numbers wouldn't there? That said, I assume you mean significant outgoings rather than those who aren't making match day squads.

I would also imagine that any player who it is becoming public knowledge that Everton are after is probably some way down the line with negotiations and we might be wasting our time trying to outbid them.

Absolutely but that's required anyway.

Taylor
Mehmeti
Kipre
McAteer
Palmer

Could bring in £10-15mil if we sold rather than loaned.

With amortised signings we could spend 3x that jf we wanted though doubt we will unless we look very well set.

As the other post suggests we have a good few players to sell on in January to open squad places up and add some revenue.

I mean if we don't got for him he is def the kind of player we should be going for profile wise, he has a lot going for him for 22 and would be a quality squad addition.

He won't be off for half his value. Why on earth would be selling him for significantly less than we bought him when we don't have any need to sell and he's worth more!

I suspect he's perfectly content playing football in a better team then expected early summer. Important player for us

Good shout by the way. Sort of player and age profile i would love.

Another than might actually be worth a look more in the 'value' range would be Gudjohnson at Blackburn. I'm more look at the data angle here as haven't seen a lot of him but impressive pedigree went through Barcelona and Real Madrid youths (Madrid having identified him as a top prospect). 12 international goals for Iceland and now on fire at Blackburn. 9 in 12.

Eidur Gudjohsnon's son. He could be a £5-7 million man who is quickly worth 5-10x the money.

When you look at the profile of players you can start to work out the 'level' in some ways.

This lad has won stuff at 22, he is a full international and has played European cup games.

Conversely, and this is not a dig Flemming is 28 never played European football, never played for Holland at any level and was last season relegated from the premier league. He has not got on paper the same plaudits.

You can have all the data you like but sometimes a player jumps off the page.

Like Palacios.

I don't know - £15m seems reasonable for a top end Championship player...

O'Neil seems to disagree which is the most important thing, but for me he's third choice left winger and far from an important player for us.

Can we think of a team that would pay 25 - 30 m for Jaden in the UK?

Likely to go abroad but not for that kind of money.

I like to look of Morten Frendrup at Genoa (mentioned him a few times). Would be a good partner for Palacios. Ball winning midfielder with an excellent engine. Danish international too. Think it would be a 15-20 million signing though.

Also, Paul Nebel, German player for Mainz. Out of contract in 2027. Diminutive, high presser in the Encisco mold, but less of a maverick. He's been in the German squad, but hasn't yet made an appearance. Saw him play for the German U21's quite a few times and everything was going through him when they were trying to break down a defence.

They look great.

It would be brilliant development for any future player this season to play minutes with Palacios and/or Lukic so they can see the level required.

Dare i even say Cam Hump would have learnt a thing or two from those guys in training and games to kick him on.

To be fair to Flemming, he had proven himself as a Premier League ready forward when we bought him. While he wasn't our top target, he had done well & scored 11 goals for a poor Burnley side in a relegation season. Arguably a better forecast for immediate success than a young forward, with great potential, from a foreign league.

Hull possibly but i would imagine plenty of overseas interest. But I don't think he will go because nobody will match what he is worth to us.

There really is a bizarre rhetoric around Philogene currently. Baffles me how people see Clarke ahead of him despite no manager ever having that opinion. Philogene is a quality young player who has the attributes to succeed in the prem. Just coming back from Injury. Scored twice against our arch rivals last season and was excellent. Let's just see how the season goes (and I say all this as someone who would be playing Maeda in most games).

Your claim that he has all the attributes to succeed in the Prem just doesn't stack up though, it's clear why people are thinking that way as his deficiencies have been far more obvious than what he's able to bring.

At Prem level he doesn't have the required pace or ability to work space for a shot, so far that's been pretty clear, it's not like he's had zero opportunity either both here and at Villa,.just doesn't have the physicality, which is the foundation you need in the PL these days. Probably don't need to remind you that Nodge aren't a prem team.

Or you haven't looked into his attributes properly as you evidence in your first line.

1. He has a clocked running speed of 34.74kph which he clocked for Villa in the prem and made him Villas fastest player that season ahead of the likes of Ollie Watkins. For reference that's ahead of any Ipswich player this season (Leif Davis and Enciso coming closest). Philogene not being quick is a false observation.

2. Not having the ability to work space is a bizarre stick to beat him with as that's one of his best attributes and he probably only Enciso and possibly Fatawu in our squad could have an argument for doing that better in our squad. He has much tighter ball control in tight areas than say Jack Clarke (who I also like).

3. He was 22 when last having a prem campaign. Scored 2 goals for us whilst still raw. He's ust coming back from Injury this time and had one start. How is anyone judging him yet?! Feels like the same people as start of last season who swiftly proven wrong.

4. Really highly rated as an England u21 ahead of Omari actually.

I'm saying he has the attributes because he has. Whether he has the toughness, luck and desire to fulfil his potential remains to be seen. Personally think he's developed really well. Work rate and defensive/press came on last season a lot.

I think people don't like the lad and have decided he's some sort of mercenary because of his agent. But unfair but ok. Definitely clouded judgements going on though

Clarke is the best player we've had at impacting games from the bench in as long as I can remember. I feel like that is why he's fallen into that role. I cannot remember one game where Philogene has made a real impact from the bench. He is either sh!t hot from the start or does very little at all and you can normally tell which version of him you are getting within 15 minutes.

Saying that, I don't subscribe to the idea he doesn't work hard. He contributes off the ball, he is just very frustrating and lacking in directness/urgency on it too often for me. He feels more suited to a league that is played at a slower pace.

Flemming was obviously needed for the start of this season, by January we will know a lot more about how this is likely to go for the summer window.

He feels the kind of signing Mick would have made to patch it up a bit, but on a free transfer, not 20m.

Harsh. Zian has a lot of quality with his feet and has scored two in not many minutes.

Think he's a quality addition. I do think you are bang on we needed him/a striker in the building and suspect he wasn't one of our top picks because he came late and also doesn't quite fit with our style. Saying that it's good to have a different profile and he's a quality player.

Pretty much agree in Clarke but it's also on his impact starting games which has rarely been successful though he was brilliant that night in Cov and obviously some other games.

Philogene was consistently good from the start for me in the type of role he plays. He's a big moments player and plays more high risk plays then others which he achieved with decent %. When it doesn't come off he will have had a bad game with he fans sometimes.

Really want to see what he can do fully fit and run of games this season. It was only a few games ago Maeda was being talked about as bit up to much. Think he is really getting into his groove now. Our left options are as good as they could have been really. We don't need to knock any of them. It's RW options we are light though Maeda showed he can do a good job there!

Philogene was totally ineffective as often as he was great last season in the Championship. Largely ineffective away from home - 2 goals (both penalties) and 1 assist. Lots of games just passed him by. I do find him really frustrating because he has so much ability/talent but he hasn't put it together on a consistent basis. He's young enough to still do so but at the same time he will be 25 soon and needs to do so soon if he wants a career at the top level.

Very very few wingers that have a great game every single week and Philogene was our best over the course of last season.

He is a player that will get targeted as being a threat by the opposition and they will have a plan for him.

He's definitely not perfect every game and I understand he can have an easy going way about him at least visually. But he grafts and puts in the distance and running over a game.

My gripe is only the unfair and disproportionate criticism he is getting right now. He had the same at the start of last season and that went away with his performances. Harder for him to do that this season of course but in really hope he can.
