| Ivan Azon..... on 21:52 - Nov 5 with 0 views | surreyblue | With hindsight possibly my favourite player of last season. He wasnt the best or the most talented, and he was sometimes infuriating with his finishing, but I don't think anyone worked as hard as him last season. Never say die attitude and with a smile on his face the whole time. 99% of players would have won that header at Saints and then stood back to inspect their handiwork. Not Ivan. Fought to win his own second ball, Burns scores, and without that moment we are probably playing Lincoln and Bolton rather than Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal. | | | |

Not every player is destined to be a world beater, it's simply not possible. Buy many fans at many clubs will always have time for someone like IA who never stops running, is 100% committed and leaves nothing out on the pitch. There may be quite a number of more talented players out there, but some of them would be even better if they adopted some of his attitude.

Marvellous stuff. Must be close to a record season for him He did try hard and we all love a trier. I’m not convinced he’ll ever become prolific, but we never know. I thought Chris Wood was hopeless when he was with us and he turned out ok.

A lot of the role he players is to support the other forward and attackers, and for us he did that well, even if he missed sitters. How many did Clarke get from Azon hitting the post? He was given a few tap ins!

Not sure he was that close to Sitters but fair play to him and Robson if he was

Azon was a poor finisher and that cost us games. However, he deservedly took over from Hirst as our first choice #9 thanks to his energy, channel running & hold up play. You don't always see that attitude from an overseas loan player. Interestingly, Azon, Hirst & Akpom scored a total of 18 goals last season from 113 appearances. Yes, plenty of those were from the bench, but good thing that Clarke & Philogene managed 29 between them.
