Mike Ashley has bought House of Fraser. 10:08 - Aug 10 with 1970 views | ITFC_Forever | Goodbye once respectable, middle-of-the-road HoF. Hello another bargain bin where good brands go to die.

Ashley will probably cherry pick the best sites & let most of HoF flounder, rather like Philip Green did with BHS. HoF is a basket case anyway - department stores are struggling all over the world & it's not hard to see why.

Do you think so? The main labels like Boss, Armani, Paul Smith etc seem to be the same price in HOF as they are in Harvey Nics or the brands own stores. And HOF will always give you a full refund if you change your mind. Can't see that continuing under Ashley. [Post edited 10 Aug 2018 11:12]

Mike Ashley has bought House of Fraser. on 11:13 - Aug 10 with 1825 views | tractorshark | And goodbye Newcastle United. Poor transfer window, average squad, very little firepower and probably even less investment now. Wolves and Fulham look more than capable of surviving, I fear for the Geordies, Huddersfield and Cardiff. At least the Toon will look smart in the Championship. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Prices were always reasonable at their Leicester store which was more of a discount store selling at below normal retail prices. They couldn't even make a success of that as it closed a year ago.

Mike Ashley has bought House of Fraser. on 12:58 - Aug 10 with 1723 views | gosblue | Protecting his investment. He already had an 11% stake. There is already some brand crossover and possible future synergies such as SD’s distribution network and HOF’s overseas operations. I think it’s a good fit all round as long as he can retain The differentiation between the two whilst capatilising on the obvious economies of scale. Plus SD is one of the few high street companies to reconcile its stores and online business.
