My main complaint with Lambert is he still hasn't fixed the defensive issues 20:07 - Jan 1 with 844 viewskizaitfc

He made a lot of comments about it when he arrived and it was so obvious last season when we continually shot ourselves in the foot.

He needs to find a solid back four and stick with them.

Personally I think the only defensive players good enough in our squad are KVY and Wolfenden.

but it's not the defence in isolation that's the problem; if we mainly are hoofing balls long instead of trying to play, that invariably leads to us losing the ball and quickly putting pressure on the defence. Obviously changing the GK and personnel frequently doesn't help either.

To be fair there was much less hoofball today. Norris played it short more often than not.

We played some very nice stuff today at times.

The defence have to take some blame for the long balls it is often them being too cautious or too slow to pick the quick ball out. However I understand the midfield has to do there part too.

Playing out from the back for goal kicks pleased me a lot today as the long goal kicks were not working.

The defence was OK today, it was another Will Norris mistake that cost us two points, what does it take to send him back to Wolves? He was beaten from a narrow angle and had a mad rush to cost us two goals against Lincoln, then another again today cost us two points, get Holy back in for the next game please.

the ball bouncing off out front two more often than not doesn't help our defence. cant help but keanes ability to control a ball would be a really handy weapon to have

Spot on in that neither Norwood nor Jackson are target men. They have flattered to deceive. It seems that the 4th tier is their level.

im not sure that's really true. both have shown that they can score at this level (albeit need plenty of chances) but both are good L1 strikers IMO, just need to work on holding that ball up..... or PL needs to find a way to better utilise the qualities they do have

I think once sears is sharp he'll be number one out there

Agreed that a fit Sears is the best of the few of the four....

I think that Jackson, Norwood and Edwards all exhibit what it was that made them sought after and also why that recognition didn't get more prospective buyers. They have determination are speedy, and sometimes quite effective. But they all find it hard to take a bouncing ball captive. I doubt whether they can master that skill now, especially to turn themselves into credible Championship performers.

There are things to like, even from Edwards, and we must make the best of it, but at approaching a combined 2.5 million for Edwards and Jackson, and whatever it was that Norwood's agent held out for, someone saw us coming.

My main complaint is that he's been here 14 months and I still can't work out what he's trying to do with the side.
