Given who was not available yesterday who should have been in the team? 14:19 - Mar 4 with 839 viewsreusersfreekicks

Especially in midfield? Play a 2 of Dozzell and Nolan? Surely Dozzell not strong enough to be in a 2? Risk Bishop being on the way back from injury?
Not supporting a terrible performance but recognise PL's options were severely limited

Woolfenden.

Sears.

Bishop - Hes not exactly been over played, I'm not sure playing him would have been such a big risk.

Ewards

Dobra

Can understand him picking that midfield three for the reasons you mention above, but that doesn't excuse the rest of the team.

That three would have looked so much better with some pace and/or width in front of them. Sears probably wasn't fit enough to start but we had Dobra, Edwards and Simpson on the bench.

Should have been 442 when we clearly don't have the wing backs.

Back four could have been Donacien, Wilson, Chambers and Earl. After that it would be the best round pegs we have.

As for not starting with "half fit" players - whats the difference if we end with them?
Sears, Bishop both came on and both were better than what we began with.

It wasn't the game to give a boy his debut.

In isolation, I'd say struggling in one much against one of the better sides in the division when you have 3 centre midfielders out and one coming back from injury is probably forgivable. But when the context is continual failure over several months, it's a bigger deal when your manager can't set you up to deal with a little adversity.

I think a better manager adapts to the resources they've got on the day. That adaptation might be:
Sticking Woolfenden in central midfield to add a bit more muscle.
Playing 2 in the middle, Edwards and Garbutt on the wings, and trying to get the ball wide as often as possible.
Pick Simpson and Keane to start and going direct.
Ask Judge or Nolan to play deeper and take a little responsibility rather than letting (especially Nolan) them hide, whilst they younger teammates got run over.
Generally maintain the team's levels of confidence/tactics so they don't look terrified and confused most of the time.

Ultimately, Lambert couldn't make it work and rarely makes it work, which is why he should go asap.

Should clearly have started Sears, Bishop, Woolf, probably Dobra and Edwards.

It's a must win game. Don't play a kid in midfield and take him off at half time. Sears and Bishop might only have lasted 60mins but our only chance of winning was a fast start.

Regardless of team, none of the players had a clue where they were meant to be. Arguments all over the pitch throughout the game.
