Schools not opening round here now 17:16 - Jun 5 with 692 viewsMullet

Just seen a parent share a letter saying because the R rate is so high in the North West schools in their council borough aren't opening Monday to Year 1 and 6. It looks legit too and not fake news.

Maybe it's living in the North West but the impact here really does seem to be massive. Does it feel the same elsewhere? Or is it more like something happening off in the distance?

Fishers will be along in a minute to say it's all great and they had a disco in their school today with 5,000 extra kids

Our schools and Councils have been given a good 3 weeks notice to plan for a 29th June opening. But I don't think the schools were expecting to open to all whilst sticking to a maximum of 3rd capacity in classrooms. God knows how they'll sort it out. We've loads of busses around here too as the catchment for Welsh schools tends to be very large.

We had a survey today from one of our schools - there's plenty on there to suggest it's far fro a given we will be going back on the 29th.

Just did a thread above/below on R, with stats on the NW.

North West and South West are the highest R numbers. Andy Burnham was asking for more strict measures in North West just now.

I've been working on ours a bit, but am quite relieved we are being ultra sensible. It's really galling we can't get back in full time with everyone yet though.

And boy are the kids ready for going back (and us). I'm embarrassed to say we're not being good surrogate teachers at all. The kids are bored, we're fed up with them being bored while trying to juggle other things. Just about hanging on and getting a good 2-3 hours of learning in a day, but no more than that. Got to be safe though and I'm glad we're being cautious in Wales.

Burnham has quietly been impressing me for a while as a politician. I really hope he's in a senior cabinet position some time, but he'll be a loss for Manchester.

We've been debating sending the little man back to nursery as he's missing it terribly. With me due back to work and the one who goes out to the supermarket etc. it seems like a really difficult decision again.

Although this week with the hot weather it's looked like summer holidays have come early for some people. Massive groups of teens loitering about the estates and public spaces.
