Signs of panic in that perhaps, considering Lambert has previously said he doesn’t see Dobra as a first teamer? Bearing in mind most were relatively accepting of the first XI today, I’d expect something like:
Holy - Chambers, Kenlock, Woolfenden, Wilson - Dozzell, Huws, Bishop - Sears, Edwards, Hawkins
I wonder if starting two games in four days will be too deemed too much for Ward and Lankester at this stage. Huws seems the natural (actually, only) replacement for Nolan. | |

I'd definitely have Sears central, Edwards one side and then Lankester or Dobra the other side (obviously Lambert wouldn't go for Dobra, would be Bennetts).
Sears link-up play is miles better than Hawkins, and having an actual goal threat from your centre-forward is also useful. | | | |

Not sure what the sudden urge to get rid of Hawkins is, he didn't do a lot wrong yesterday. He's not an elegant player but he was holding up the ball well and wining aerial battles. |  |

That obviously hasn’t worked out and we’re not about jump Dobra over Bennetts. The move for Bennetts made no sense as we have plenty of players in the position. It was never a "weak" position. Sending El Mizouni on loan has done basically nothing for his development as he's barely played, so clearly Dobra saw this and thought he should stay here unless he's guaranteed time at a loan club. Ridiculous that he and El Mizouni were more "in the mix" last season compared to this season, and then Lambert brings in a loan player who will never join the club (high wages) to take up our own player's spots. The planning is non existant. | | | |
