I’d go with the Mike Bassett England manager format. 44 @#&ing 2!!! And I’d find the players who could play naturally in that system. A proper right and left back, real centre halves, one an animal, the other a footballer and beast (Hunter and Beattie) etc etc etc.

This playing players out of position drives me nuts. Sears was ruined by being shoved on the wing, Murphy wasted for several years on the wing, Edwards out of position most of the time, Chambers at full back, midfielders up front, forwards in midfield. Alf Ramsey told Jack Charlton that he was by no means the best centre half but he fitted his team. In 1966 they did alright with that principle. Ok the odd game when injuries strike (Robson with Mills in midfield a few times leaps to mind) but that should be an exception. Why do nobodies like PL and many others think think they no better?
