He has taken the chequered flag after ninety-seven laps.

The man who revealed to us that Opal Fruits are made to make your mouth water.

When he was commissioned at Sandhurst during the war, General Eisenhower took the salute at Murray's passing out parade.

Sad news indeed. Motorsport legend.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

With so many channels and some sports rarely free to air I wonder how many of today's sport commentators will be remembered as fondly as the likes of Walker?

See also: Coleman, Carpenter, Moore.

When I think of F1 I think of Walker commentating on Mansell overtaking, and that burst tyre in Oz 86 (?) that cost him the title.

Still 97 at the chequered flag is a decent number of life laps

RIP indeed. Not a massive F1 fan although watched it a lot when younger and he was commentating. The highlight still being mansells British gp win at silverstone (1987?) when he caught piquet with a couple of laps left and the crowd invaded the circuit. Murray walker let the emotion take him over and why not?

He was very good at what he did, genuine enthusiasm for the sport. Any sport even:
