Anyone else put off going to the dentist during Covid? on 16:34 - Jun 2 by Illinoisblue
I hear ya. Had to have a deep clean in a couple spots. All numbed up but, damn, the noise.
Scene cuts to Facters chuckling as he whittles himself a new set of ill-fitting wooden chompers.
Pronouns: He/Him/His.

Got all psyched up for it a couple of weeks ago and went, only for them to say that I was only able to have the check up that day and come back for the clean a week later. And due to work, I've had to postpone it by a week. Tactical extra flossing between now and then.
I went in March, having not been for the best part of two years. Only needed a couple of fillings though and one of them was very minor.
I didn't go for a few years after having a wisdom tooth removed once, needed root canal work the next time. Which is a clear lesson in not putting it off.
I clenched my jaw so hard during my sleep, my back tooth snapped in half and fell out during breakfast. Had to have an emergency appointment. It was at the height of Covid so they had all these new systems in place too.
They’ve cancelled my regular appointments a few times now and I’ve ignored remaking them. I’ve tried to clean mine with those home dental tools and whitening polish, but my teeth are awful so it seems a bit pointless. I dare say when I do get back in it’ll be another hefty bill.
I hadn't been since some point in 2018 so I was somewhat anxious before yesterday's appointment. Thankfully things weren't too bad and our old dentist has left, her replacement was much nicer.
The dentists themselves aren't doing cleans during appointments at the moment and I managed to get a cancellation with the hygienist for the same afternoon. She certainly hacked some solid matter off my teeth but it turns out that spending half an hour having it done by someone who does that all the time is much better than our old uppity dentist doing it in a hurry before the next patient. I have followed the hygienist's advice and got myself a round headed electric toothbrush so hopefully things will be better from here on in.
My dentist has just started plaintively emailing me to make an appointment.
Not overly impressed after the last visit to the hygienist (15 months ago) and her gallumphing around my mouth with the scraping and polishing machines caused a load of fillings to fall out and fragile teeth to break right at the beginning of lockdown. Fortunately there was no significant pain, so I left it. Just sharp edges (which I filed down myself) and a load of holes for food to get stuck in. Annoying.
