I thought Sterling left his foot there, but would like to see it again.

Not how I saw it. Will have to see it again. The defender was nowhere near the ball and clearly trod on his foot.

If it was given, it would’ve been extremely soft.

Harsh.

First glance it wasn't so clear.

Massive dive.

No idea why he wasn’t booked.

Must be the way VAR saw it because they didn't get the ref to take a second look.

In real time I wasn't convinced but I thought the replay looked like it should have been.

I agree. One side it looked like it could be, then from another angle it did look like Sterling just hung his foot out in the hope it got caught.

Clearly a pen. No idea why it was not checked. 5 minutes later, far softer ones given elsewhere on the pitch. Defender trod on his foot and nowhere near the ball.

Anywhere else on the pitch it is given.

The Scots commentary I was listening to said Sterling kicked the back of Andy Robertson's calf to get some purchase for falling over...

Clearly not true.

No excuse though, the performance did not deserve a pen.

Will have to watch it again. In real time I thought it wasn't but the only replay I saw I thought the defender was nowhere near the ball and trod on his foot.

Nah. Defender stood on his foot. Netherlands got a pen for similar, only difference was the Dutch player was running at pace.
I don't see how Scotland are deemed to have played better than England. It was an even game that England had the best chances in. Only perception is England are supposedly the better team and were expected to win.

The tread is as clear as day. Cannot understand how VAR did not pick it up.
