you can, because they are just after free cash, there are bottles of beer that sell for over £500, there are bottles of whiskey that sell for £1000s of pounds, none of them are actually worth that amount of money if you valued them properly, they just hold certain cache for collectors to hold certain vintages or limited editions. This can is the same, of course its not worth 15k, but there are probably enough Brewdog collectors, just about, who in years to come will pay daft amounts of money to own one.

just drink the beer and forget about it

I'm not sure you get how the value of something works.

The value of an item, especially collectors items is what people are willing to pay for it. This can go up and down. That value is it's worth at that given time.

Your post seems to have somehow completely missed the entire point, which takes some doing considering.

He has every right to complain under Trade Descriptions etc and they should, if the process is followed correctly, and the facts are as mentioned, be forced to compensate.

You can't run a money-spinning competition based on made-up promises.

Actually you probably can get away with it because don't the so-called ombudsmen have limited power or something. Either way, of course he's in the right.
