Commantators yesterday 10:38 - Jul 28 with 1238 views | BlueySwede | Were they Colchester-fans? In that case they seemed clueless even when it came to their own team. Some of the weirdest commentary I have experienced, with the pronunciation of Noubl-ee- one of the highlights (there were other weird pronunciations of other players as well). Can´t wait to hear Brenner Woolley again, he get´s quite a few complaints on here as well, but he do know what he is talking about and is pleasant to listen to.

....for about 15 minutes despite him having touched the ball numerous times. And they called Burns, Jackson, when I can't really see the similarity. So they were. Personally I thought they were quite entertaining to be honest.

You mentioned this last night. Do you have a link? That article seems to have missed me. Brenner Woolley is usually very careful about finding out and using the correct pronunciation. Is there one with Skuse where he has announced that his surname rhymes with excuse too? One of the highlights of the commentators was when they said early in the second half that a foul by Judge would have been yellow-card worthy had he already been spoken to in the first half. And then a little after remembered that he had been spoken to by the ref after his lunge on Dobra that hey said at the time was not a foul.

Surely Skuse must BE the second syllable of ‘excuse’. (I always assumed it was with the verb, not the noun.)

I don’t know what was said yesterday, but his name has always been Noo-Blay to Colchester fans. He introduces himself this way at the beginning of his 'the ball don't lie' podscasts. A name from the past almost always mispronounced was Hreidarsson. The first syllable rhymes with ‘pay’, not with ‘pie’. [Post edited 28 Jul 2021 16:04]

Commantators yesterday on 16:32 - Jul 28 with 888 views | monty_radio | As many have noted on here before Brenner Wooley is somewhat of an exception, in a good way. Some have commented that he gives the opposition too much credit, but I personally prefer that to some bloke who's bias really gets in the way and who then namechecks Warky, Thijssen etc as if that amplified his team's success. Actually, I don't think it was both commentators that get things wrong. The co-commentator, David Gregory, as an ex-Town man and then a stalwart at Col Utd, knew who was who, but remained polite to his colleague whose heart was in the right place even if his style was a bit rough round the edges.

No more than I would expect of a Wivenhoe Gregory.

Yeah, they got some of our players wrong, but with no names on the shirts, and a while bunch of new players, I'd wager a lot of our fans would as well. The OP says they were clueless about their own team I did think they were entertaining, and agree with the view that the second commentator was much more with it and kept the main guy from getting too swept up
Commantators yesterday on 10:45 - Jul 29 with 597 views | Sharkey | Some younger colchester fans object to the way that David Gregory pronounces Colchester. But to my mind he pronounces it in the correct East Anglian way, - with two syllables not three, so it sounds something like Kolsh-ster, or even koa-shter.

Ah! That genuinely escaped me. Yes, he used the noun version not the verb!
