Might have moved on since I worked on it, but in terms of player transfers it's usually a combination of WyScout, Scout 7 (now part of Opta), other Opta providers or there's a Russian one whose name I can't remember right now but they were a bit dodgy.
Depending on the club, they may also get custom data feeds which cost more. What I will say is that "by expensive", it really does pale in comparison into player wages. Clubs can be hilariously stingy about it considering that finding a decent player with it would pay for these systems for a good decade. |  |

Back then my parents took a look at the Speccy and thought it didn't look like a real computer so got me a C64 instead for Xmas. Best decision they ever made, learnt to code 6502 assembly language and wrote some of my own games.
Still coding to this day albeit no longer 6502 assembly. |  |
