One of those proper performances today 18:04 - Sep 18 with 839 views | chrismakin | No it wasn't 90 odd minutes of outplaying the opposition, but it was a professional performance and one every player stuck to their tasks and positions when needed. Absolutely, we took quite a battering 2nd half, but that was to be expected, but we kept going, saw it out and it's a slight sign of what we could produce without the desperation of being all gung ho with fullbacks all over the shop. Will need more of that going forwards, but big positive today and just hope we maintain that first half patience into future games. Attack when the opportunity presents itself, not forcing the issue and leaving us open.

We had to defend and we did. Lincoln are a good side, coached by a very good manager, tipped to be up there, and we were away from home. They were always going to have a spell when they came at us. But in all honesty, Hladky didn't have a particularly difficult save to make, and we had some very decent chances ourselves. A couple of last ditch tackles by them saved certain goals, plus Bonne having longer legs would've seen another goal there, not to mention hitting the bar (although that sort of led to the goal).
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

I would call it a battering, that's not an issue, it's a positive to take as we dealt with it, I lost count the number of times our backline put blocks in etc. So I agree about Hladky, but that's because our defence and the rest that stood firm which was the big point in my OP. Why it's important is, we still had a fair number of players not available, who being available for that second half, maybe have helped on making it a bit less nervy.

I think basically they controlled the second half without actually doing anything with it. It slightly reminded me of some of the games we had under Lambert where we controlled a lot of the ball but our final pass was lacking massively (although they weren't quite that bad). Coulson going off didn't help, but at least we stilled carved out one or two decent opportunities. Burns' chance in particular.
