Can't see a problem with that. But very un-Tory!

How about early release for people with HGV licences who are in prison?

Got visions of goodfellas with fags and booze being sold out the back of a coop delivery lorry.

It's totally at odds with the Tory rhetoric of tough on crime and longer sentences (imagine the press headlines if Labour suggested this!). Great idea though if it's part of a wider programme to rehabilitate offenders (i.e. other training and trades are included too). Just locking people up is shown to be bad at preventing reoffending and is horrendously inefficient. I don't know much about prisoner rehabilitation, but surely it's better to give them a trade and a purpose rather than dump them on the streets at the end of their sentence?

Obviously there are issues around considerable cost to the public purse for the training compared to private drivers and companies paying for the training themselves. Also safety issues with some prisoners, so it'd probably need to be highly selective. And would companies want to employ them? You'd probably need a govt backed scheme - more expense.

His gaslighting on foreign drivers is as annoying as ever. I don't see anything wrong with using foreign drivers, considering they're may well be bringing loads in from foreign countries in the first place. No reason why they shouldn't have the freedom to do some local stuff once they get here.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Sounds a bit like that evening game some years ago when a white van pulled up in Portman Road and started handing out free boxes of Dunkin' Donuts (or Krispy Kremes, I can't remember which.

I virtuously didn't have any.

He cannot possibly be as big an idiot as he seems, but he is doing a very convincing impersonation of a simpleton.
