Game Tonight. Who’s going on 12:30 - Dec 1 with 1412 views | stringy | I'm wavering; the other cup games have thus far been fairly painful and The Fat Cat has its 25th anniversary knees-up tonight, so tough / last minute call. I'll be there for Saturday, Charlton away etc. but Arsenal U21s in pizza cup, hmm
Game Tonight. Who’s going on 12:53 - Dec 1 with 1327 views | SitfcB | Yep. I know it’s sh!te with the U21 teams being in but it a competitive ITFC home game at the end of the day. A big chance for us to get to Wembley. I’d love to get there and sell out our end, even for the people to attend who are against it just so we can call enjoy a day out at Wembley.

I was same, when we were relegated Not doing that with bloody under 21 teams, no way I am Then the first season we had spurs in the first game and I thought we’ll I don’t want to miss a town competitive home game and that was that.

I never understood the arrogance we've had about the cups. We've not won a domestic Cup for over 40 years! "Mikey mouse" we keep getting told, yet we keep winning f'all at any level. "Focuz on tha leeeg" - and then lose the next league fixtures almost immediately after any cup game! Some clubs have been able to launch themselves winning this "Mickey mouse" cup who are either above us in this league or in the leagues above us now, which include Southampton, Coventry, Barnsley, Bristol, Peterborough among others! Face it, the chances of us being promoted are slim to none. We may as well try and win something for a change rather than lay down and die again for no benefit to anything.

Not my idea of a trip to Wembley to watch Ipswich. When I go to watch us there I want to be buzzing for it beforehand, struggling to sleep. I want to go absolutely mental when we score the last minute winner, and celebrate properly afterwards. Going to watch us in the pizza cup against Doncaster? No thanks.

Complete agreement from me .but that is no surprise as i have been critical of our cup attitude for a decade or more .

Agree about all other competitions. I don't get the 'we won't win it so might as well go out of the FA cup' thing either. Who knows what might happen if we beat Barrow, get a favourable draw or pull off an upset against someone. For whatever reason I just can't get into the Papa Johns. Can't imagine going to Wembley to watch us having to feign an interest in the competition. Perhaps it says more about my inability to accept that we're operating at such levels.

We had good runs in the FA Cup in the 90's with that epic game against Liverpool in 92 and again in the Quarter Finals a year or so later, those games beating Champions Blackburn in 1995, playing a great Villas side after that, all magic, all worth it, all important in keeping the club relevant and competitive. Even the League Cup we've been close to winning a few times we have had good runs despite losing to little clubs in the semi-finals on occasions such as Norwich and Brum. Those low-key opponents aside Burley reached the Quarter Final (seeing us beat Manure and draw with Chelsea in normal time) and Semi-Final, a year or so later we had another great game with Liverpool we lost on Pens, and then Keane even got us a great fixture with Arsenal. Why not try and get a good fixture? It beats losing to Rotherham at home on a cold Tuesday night!

Blackburn, I remember listening to it on the radio as a young lad. Richard Wright had a real stormer IIRC. That was a very good Villa side in the later round, they trimmed us up. Dwight Yorke scoring I believe. League Cup run, aside from the playoff season is about all we've had to should about in the last, what, 15 years? Great win against West Brom and then the Tamas Priskin goal against Arsenal. There was a point in that away leg where I dared to dream we might do them.
