What's going on with gigs in Cambridge? 17:57 - Dec 3 with 2017 viewsWhos_blue

This morning I get an email from the Corn Ex confirming Weller has cancelled this Sunday, with no alternative date announced.
This afternoon I get an email from The Junction confirming Corduroy have now postponed their December gig until next October!!!!!

Yeah sorry. I know the reason and think my post has missed its mark.
I was mainly bemoaning the fact that two gigs I was really looking forward to were cancelled on the same day!

That is unfortunate. Hopefully not a sign of things to come…

Yeah, was supposed to see BC, NR at Junction on Tuesday.. also cancelled with no new date.. I suspect they'll schedule for after new album now, with upgrade to Corn Exchange like Future Islands did

I've been keeping my fingers crossed that Wembley Arena or the ticket agency don't suddenly send me an email to cancel, as been looking forward to seeing James and The Happy Mondays tomorrow night since my birthday last year.

Was due to see them at the Waterfront. The email did say 'ongoing illness' so doesn't sound as if it's covid related.

I can see Independent Venue Week getting binned again this (next) year though. No one seems to want to commit.

I’m not sure. They’re the support for James tomorrow.
I’ve seen they’ve announced a few others they’re doing tho

Google isn’t very helpful but amazingly I think Shaun Ryder is doing it. For a number of reasons I’m quite surprised. I also wonder why they are second bill (as much as I love James)

I’m slightly disappointed that The Mondays haven’t generated more attention for touring and I’m more disappointed that I was unaware.

I’ll have to look at this in the morning and see what’s progressing in 2022.

I’ve never seen The Mondays and I reckon it would be quite the night.

I’ll have a word with Bossbeard - he’s been to see the Charlatans tonight.

I heard on the radio yesterday they were announced with someone else next year, but can’t remember who now!

I think you need to get your priorities right! This is the REAL travesty taking place in Cambridge right now.

One student said the situation is so dire that it feels like the “loss of the Cambridge experience.”

Looks like they are doing a few gigs next year, one of them with Hooky as back up, might toddle along to that.

Bossbeard wants me to go and watch Adam and the Ants with him - although to be fair ABC are on the bill so I'll go - Trinity Park.

I was at the junction on Thurday night watching Bad Manners. It was business as usual as long as you had a vaccine passport, proof of natural immunity or a negative lateral flow result

I find this surprising, as I don't think a day has gone by in the past 2 and a half years where I haven't seen the Monday's/James tour pop up on Social Media!

I haven't been, but having seen them both in the past, I'd say James have aren't their place at the top of the bill, but perhaps a co-headline tour would've been the way forward.

On last nights evidence, the order was absolutely correct. The Mondays were good as an overall band, but Shaun’s voice was struggling -probably with it being the last night. It almost looked like they’d wheeled him out positioned him at the back of the stage, given him a set list and asked him to join in. Still good, but certainly very much support to James last night who put on an awesome show 2 1/4 hrs - dipping into their back catalogue for some less obvious gems as well as the crowd pleasing classics. They were on excellent form.

Therein lies the problem.

I don’t do social media, it’s controlled by The Man.
