One World Trade Center 20:02 - Feb 11 with 1316 views | dominiciawful | a.k.a. the "Freedom Tower" Has anybody on here visited? What is it like? It wasn't completed when I visited New York, nor the 9/11 memorial and museum, so they are all on my list to see one day. It's shame there is no longer an outdoor, open-air viewing deck like there was on the old South Tower of the WTC. Did anybody here visit the old Trade Center? I would have loved to have seen it.

What's the lift experience? Is it like the Empire State where you actually have to change lifts on the way up and down?

I think there's a kind of visual/audio history of New York shown on the walls of the lift as you go up?

Yes, the walls and ceiling of the lift are covered in screens which play out the changing NY skyline over the centuries as you go up. This ends with the building being constructed around you as you reach the top. Pretty clever and the views of that end of Manhattan are great as you would expect. I like all of the Empire State, The Rock and One World Trade Centre views of the city - worth doing all 3 just for that alone, but the Empire State, like the Chrysler has that Art Deco style which beats anything new.

Yes, 2x 110. Each floor of the Twin Towers was an acre in size (including the core, I suppose).

I thought it was on th 144th, but I may be wrong. Whatever floor it was, that day it was completely shrouded in fog/clouds.

I went to Windows at night when it became a club. It was like Chicago’s, full of city types trying to knock off the secretaries. ‘Come on Eileen’ played at the end. Great views though!
