I see Saudi backed Staveley thinks it unfair that Russian Roman 13:17 - Mar 4 with 1231 viewshomer_123

has to sell Chelsea.

To be fair, she's right. If the FA and Premier League are happy that Saudi money props up the Prem then no reason why Roman can't stay in situ.

And the Chinese are going to pull their coverage of the Premier League this weekend as they don't want to broadcast the shows of support for Ukraine. Makes me glad we do at least live in a democracy where you have freedom of expression.

She's a very, very long way from right. This is the best chance we have had ever to start looking at who owns football in this country, where all the money comes from, and the morality of the owners/funders and fitness to own clubs. Chelsea could just be the start.

Poll: would you rather

Perhaps a few displays of the Uyghur flag instead.

Really? That seems a hopelessly flawed process. Who is to judge whose wealth accumulation is acceptable and whose is not?
Starting with the German model of their 50+1 rule, effectively keeping out new commercial owners, would have been great. Ticket prices there are cheaper and they have safe standing. While their clubs aren't generally competitive in the Champions League, I doubt the locals care too much about that. However, Bayern have won the last 9 Bundesligas and if we had a similar rule here, Man U would probably be doing the same & we'd be fed up about that.

Parasites of oppressive and wealthy states must stick together at times like this.

Why stop at football? The City is, apparently, awash with filthy money. I wonder how the UK economy would look if they were to clamp down on that.

Poll: If KM goes now, will you applaud him when he returns with his new club?

It’s not the foundation of our economy but it’s certainly a supporting wall.

And post-Brexit I think our more relaxed attitude to regulation, dodgy money and immoral investments around the world was probably seen as a way to recover much of what we’ve lost.

This is a sobering and concerning read. Particularly because it had so little impact on our politicians and media at the time.

To re-purpose a tweet I saw the other day: in Russia they call the elite oligarchs, in the UK we call them job or value creators. Along with the system that similarly hoovers money upwards into the pockets of that small percentage.

Eye opening stuff, although not surprising. Bloody EU trying to regulate our money laundering.
