Jail water firm bosses over ‘appalling’ pollution, says Environment Agency 12:33 - Jul 14 with 611 views | NthQldITFC | https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/14/jail-water-firm-bosses-over- Not sure how far I would trust the jolly old EA, but at least they're saying the right thing. 'Emma Howard Boyd, the chair of the EA, said: “Fines currently handed down by the courts often amount to less than a chief executive’s salary … Investors should no longer see England’s water monopolies as a one-way bet.”' Perhaps making the bastards swim in it on a regular basis would be a more carrot approach?

Jail water firm bosses over ‘appalling’ pollution, says Environment Agency on 15:56 - Jul 14 with 427 views | Geomorph | I know what you mean about the EA… I agree re the ‘bosses’ who are basically govt placements… however those of us who do all the work are passionate about what we do… the context being a 40 or so percent budget cut under tories since 2010 for environmental protection (yes the flood management budget has gone up). I work to protect Lake District rivers from evermore damage… so not involved in pollution … but I know other teams who are and they are very short on staff n money to fulfil duties as well as they’d want to
