Worth considering the level we are at today, therefore the level our academy players are at. Our short term priorities changed the minute GC20 financed the new squad build. Young players were always going to be a short term casualty because the bar had been raised in what it took to be considered for the first XI. I’m good in the knowledge that KMcK knows how to bring academy talent through, it might take a season or 2 to start paying off, ie the selected players to train with first team squad, coaching methods, and more careful selection of post 18s/20s for a pathway that includes a loan or 2. It is better they are getting games somewhere if not at ITFC then being match ready when we need them. If they never make it with us, they will at least have games under their belt which must be better than getting to 23 without game time at professional level to speak of.
