"..is really hard to get and easy to lose" says McKenna, but surely he's demonstrating a lack of basic physics knowledge! The thing about momentum is that it is hard to get AND hard to lose. That's why flywheels are used. They preserve the angular momentum of a rotating shaft and like oil tankers, also with huge momentum, are very difficult to stop.
I like the momentum analogy, but he's used it incorrectly!

He seems to be saying that it's hard to maintain very good form for a long period of time. Which seems to me to cast doubt on the idea that footballing form can be characterised as momentum at all. As you say, if it were really like momentum, it would be hard to lose once one had acquired it. So it seems to me that the consequence of what he's saying is that he doesn't really believe in true momentum as an appropriate analogy. |  | | |
