It should beggar belief 20:15 - Oct 16 with 2361 views | HARRY10 | ...... but she is a Tory "Doctors have rounded on the health secretary, Thérèse Coffey, after she admitted to sharing prescription medicines with others, actions the British Medical Association described as both dangerous and against the law." https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/oct/16/therese-coffey-criticised-for-gi My understanding has always been that you take all what is prescribed irrespective of how much the symptoms have healed. And this absurdity is now the Health Minister !

It's as if this bunch or arseholes have decided that they are just going to be as irresponsible as possible in as many ways as possible as some kind of expensive dare or something. Perhaps this is a good thing? If it can promote such a backlash that absolutely changes our political environment, and moves us toward a wellbeing-focussed system rather than a dead end growth-focussed system, it will be a worthwhile cost to pay. Not sure who can lead the charge, but if the people mobilise... ?

I got some antibiotics as a precautionary measure for tooth pain before a holiday. They weren't needed. Now Miss Slave who might be lucky enough to see a dentist in a month or so, and has tooth pain, is taking them. Reality innit!?!

Still probably not the smartest move to be taking them if you don't know what's causing said tooth pain.

It's sh1t teeth....it will have to come out but finding someone to do it could take some time. I predict fishing wire and a door knob or having to fork out some cash.

So... why use a dentist then ? "I got some antibiotics as a precautionary measure for tooth pain before a holiday." Of course you did, doctors are well known for issuing prescriptions, just in case. "Yes, I will write you out a prescription for high blood pressure, you never know what might happen when you are abroad. And if your wife is not too good then she can use them. They are all much the same, just a different colour and shape thats all. Bit like Quality Street actually"

It's what they have done every other time before eventually taking them out. Like I say, I am not the health minister, nor recommending it as best practice but it is our current reality.

In all fairness, there ARE certain long term conditions where people are given 'rescue' packs of antibiotics to take if they start getting unwell, but they're typically those with chronic chest conditions, not manky teeth.

It should be a pretty big story. She's the health minister, recklessly admitting to doing something that no respectable health professional would do. Her plan to cut out the middleman for antibiotics will be the death of us all in the long run. Just another sleazy Tory shortcut on the way to oblivion.

Mother had a big stash of oramorph when my poor old dad died and that was great for toothache. Sadly family Lucan have completely run out now.

However those are existing conditions that have been already diagnosed. What Les Dawsons granny is trying to push is the belief that yet another corner can be cut. As I suspect, as in this, thread she is not telling the truth. This summer I met up with an old school friend who had recently moved back to the UK after working in the EU. One of his comments was how scruffy everywhere looked. Streets with weeds, signs not cleaned, road markings not re-done, unkept parks. A measure of a government who feels everything (bar their kids education) can be done on the cheap. So we get raw sewage dumped into river s and the sea. Water shortage not long after the country was flooded. Massive shortage of NHS dentists, care staff and medical staff. Teachers having to buy equipment, even feed the kids. Whereas shortly after the war when the country was as good as bankrupt we set up the NHS, and a massive house building programme was begun. Yet now with all the technology, computerisation we struggle to house the populace, feed thousands of kids and we have queues at the doctors, dentists and hospitals. In fact the only thing that seems to be working is the forelock tugging hands of the ever so 'umble " Thems our betters thems is, it haint for the likes of hus to want better"

Nope, I had to see a dentist, the doctor wouldn't prescribe for teeth matters. I had tooth nerve pain, it didn't develop and so I had the antibiotics spare. Obviously you know better though.

Morphine sulphate tablets, prescribed for me due to the pain from a bulge on one of my discs, got me through my last half marathon. They were ten years out of date though and they probably acted more as a placebo.
