Looking back to Lincoln and Cambridge - what team and bench for Derby? 12:15 - Oct 20 with 1028 views | unstableblue | Enjoyed ticking off another ground Tuesday - smaller and more old skool than expected - an excellent pre-match curry, subjecting some Arsenal fans to the blue experience, chatting to a likeminded Blue Monday podcaster, seeing Camaras first outing and checking out some youngsters in a senior game. Clearly what wasn’t enjoyable was an appalling refereeing moment, that ruined the contest. The yellow was unnecessary anyway even if a dive was even in question. The blue army were in good voice - despite a ghoulish fascination with a guy who’d eaten all the pies in the home side stand. Town actually dominated much of the play even with 10 men. The highlights focussing on a short spell in the second half when Cambridge got on top. Agbaje started a little like a rabbit in the headlights. But grew into the game, and showed that on the ball skill that our academy generates. Humphreys had good moments, but didn’t think was amazing as some. I actually thought Chirewa had been sent off not Edwards, but on reflection our other youngster did OK. Now to my point, it was strange to give Evans, Wolfenden, Edmundson, so much pitch time (45mins) with such a massive game Friday. I do think Friday is critical - bounce back after the lacklustre first half of Lincoln, slow a promotion rival, try and match a Warne team, win in front of a big crowd and Sky, keep pace with Plymouth and above Weds. Some fringe first teamers like Jackson and JJ who fired us up against Lincoln as subs, were a little flat at Cambridge. I liked Canaras display, unlike others, bit rusty, but there was real energy and he is dynamic. Burns for me looked to be in a better frame against a weak Cambridge. And that bodes well. Ladapo disappointed and the guy needs a good game and a goal. Keogh stood out, but clearly is bench on Friday night. So following a Lincoln performances and Tuesday night… who does he play. Well it’s a team that will come at us, AND we are not currently carrying enough threat. So it’s a challenge for McKenna. I think Harness will start having been fully rested. The back 3 will return and we’ll hope Donaciens off day against Lincoln is forgotten. I think Burns having shown some guile will stay ahead of a Edwards but we need someone to break the lines. So I think he’ll persevere with the Lincoln 11 (Cambridge minutes in brackets) Walton Donacien Wolf (45) Edmundson (45) Burns (45) Morsy Evans (45) Davis Chaplin Harness Ladapo (45) Subs: Hladky (90), Keogh (90), Vincent Young (90), Ball, Edwards (17), Jackson (45), JJ (45) I think Jackson and JJ are most likely to come in to the starting 11, perhaps Edwards, and I wonder if Camara is going to sneak onto the bench… maybe for KVY What do you think?? Bring on Friday - let’s feckin win and put on a display in front of a ridiculous crowd! 3 seats left when I looked!

Jackson……….Ladapo………..Edwards Bench: Hladky, Janoi, Ball, Camara, Burns, Chaplin, John-Jules I think Keogh will make way for Camara on the bench with Janoi being the defensive replacement option.

Looking back to Lincoln and Cambridge - what team and bench for Derby? on 12:38 - Oct 20 with 923 views | Garv | Edwards has to start. Walton JD Wolf GE Burns Evans Morsy Davis Edwards Chaplin Ladapo* I'd like to see Chaplin play more on his correct side. He's got a lovely left foot but so often he's expected to play perfect through balls to Burns with his right. Let him and Davis try and work some combinations. * It's one of the 'big' boys though, so Jackson will start. [Post edited 20 Oct 2022 12:38]

Against Lincoln we got devoid of ideas in the final third, even after subs, and before the subs we weren't breaking the lines. Edwards was really good against Lincoln. But I thought Burns looked sharper Tuesday, albeit against poor opposition.

A great statement from McKenna about the importance of youth players being on 18:34 - Oct 20 with 583 views | unstableblue | …. Introduced to a senior game surrounded by experienced professionals “When we’re giving opportunities to young players we think it much more valuable to put them into a strong team surrounded by good experienced players” What a guy! And just what a glaringly obvious strategy, that previous managers have failed to grasp.
