With the recent reds given for that type of tackle.. I was surprised when I watched the game back that it hadn't led to a red card. Not because I feel it should have been but because you see them given alot nowadays.. altho. That I'd the 2nd time he's got away with it.. so maybe league 1 refs are helpful sometimes. |  |

No worse than a lot of tackles but he knew what he was doing. Raked studs down players leg and then stood on his foot. In prem would have been red.
Having said that Davis got punched in the face. Their right back got away with that. Looked deliberate to me but commentators seemed to think accident. Player looked seriously guilty. | | | |

The incident was around 60 minutes. He made a tackle and kicked through the ball with his follow-through catching Smith. In the tangle that followed he ended up standing on Smith's foot. No one at the time appealed for a foul with any real conviction. However, the Sky commentators played it back and tried to make it out it was very bad. If the referee had watched the same slow-motion replay, he may have given a foul and possibly a yellow card. It was as much a red as Curtis Davies' rash tough challenge on Burns near the end which they didn't have a close angle replay on and left Davies hobbling because hurt him more than Burns. |  |
