That is probably a desperate attempt to get people back in their stores because people are moving to cheaper supermarkets.
I'm pleased to say they will require you to swipe your mywaitrose loyalty card to operate the coffee machine, thus ensuring people don't steal them, as they used to do.

Is the free newspaper back too?...that would be a clincher.

Ipswich fans in Suffolk are too posh lol. Get to Lidl or Aldi, we have Booths equivalent up North with similar deal.
They're all much of a muchness once you get past the ready meals and the speciality stuff.
The service Waitrose offer cannot be beaten though.
I called into one looking for a particular pudding for that evening's dinner and couldn't find what I wanted. A member of staff checked the stock for me to no avail so I chose something else as a substitute instead.
When I got to the till they wouldn't let me pay. How good is that for service?

Old Uncle Factual (RIP) went into the Bury branch some years ago, and told one of the staff he was getting something nice for dinner because it was his 60th wedding anniversary.
On his way out, the manager was waiting for him, with a bottle of brandy and a large bunch of flowers.
Although as his daughter told me, 'he probably went home and told Mum he'd bought them'.
Slightly off topic. Sainsbury are changing their Nectar points again which will make them virtually worthless. Think one point will be worth 1/4 of a penny,( used to be a farthing back in the day). They can be redeemed for vouchers if you sign up and pay a yearly subscription i believe. I find Sainsbury on Moreton Hall in Bury very poor at the moment. But they are handy as i only live a few hundred yards away.

I went to Dunhelm in Bury last night with a list of things I wanted.
Left with none of them, not a single item.
My list included various things from tailor's chalk to a bog-standard pair of scissors.
I asked one girl about scissors and she pointed in some vague direction across the shop. I asked if she would show me and she sighed. She then took me to a stand with a load of pretty coloured patterned scissors.
I then tried Sainsbury's on the suggestion of another member of staff. For a pair of flipping scissors.
They had different types but not any I wanted there either. There was a 3 pack but I didn't want 3 pairs, I wanted one pair. And they had some for cutting chicken.
Oh and I asked another young girl in Dunhelm for some help with locating something in another section and she looked like she might cry so I left her to it.

Dunelm is both the post-nominal abbreviation for Dunelmensis (Latin: of Durham), indicating a degree awarded by the University of Durham, and the official name of the Bishop of Durham,

And Judith Durham was vocalist with The Seekers, jeera was in Dunelm seeking...
I just checked that I had the right group on Wikipedia and note that she died early August, there may not have been a R I P post on TWTD so for anyone heading off to Waitrose at the crack of dawn:

Didn't there used to be a Roys of Wroxham in Bury ? They still have branches in Thetford and Sudbury.
Not been one in Bury for some years now. Thinking that's the site where Wilco is situated.
Yes, one in Sudbury though. I need a bank so will be scheduling a visit to one or other shortly.
Roys is a funny place. They sell a mixture of some right old rubbish but also some expensive stuff alongside it. I'm sure I saw a t-shirt in there for 60 quid or something on a stand opposite some close-to-date biscuits.
It's just an indoor market stall really, like many of the swag type shops. But yes they probably sell some of the bits on that list, quality of which could range from something top-end to something that will fall to bits in a fortnight.
I'll have a look if I get near there. It is right next to a Waitrose too for that matter.
Not that I need to shop. I had a delivery a few days ago and also saw a neighbour who had booked a Hello Fresh box which she pretty much shoved into my arms when I opened the door. I think she didn't know what to do with it so gave it to me. I currently have enough food to feed a small army.
