Much more confident of automatic after seeing Humphreys and Burgess performance 10:08 - Nov 20 with 1252 viewsunstableblue

…. Yesterday

Burgess was remarkably good and his defensive dominance and strength really feels game changing with regard how solid we can be and how effective at handling the aerial threats of this league.

Donacien also seemed to get over what felt like a 4 game blip

Humphreys is also a game changer, his passing and distribution gives us an edge we’ve been really missing, question marks if he can stay the pace. But he allows us to open up teams when the usual style of stretching and overloads isn’t working.

Harness showed that despite the odd ropey touch that the guy is pure attack minded, a starter for me

Edwards is a different player this season; what a run he had ending in a really good shot.

Morsy was imperious yesterday. Perhaps even above Burgess and Harness for MOTM.

And we still have Camara to come in. And for all my concerns about Ahdme, that boy like Camara has a crazy energy to him, which is going to unsettle teams.

Freddie continues to do good hold up play, as well as the goals.

And then you come to the mad thing - we’re on this crazy run of form, and Burns and Chaplin are in their worst form since being at the club!!!! Surely they’ll click again soon? Or get Edwards, Camara in the team!

It’s going to be very very tough to get automatic, I think the top three will pull away, and someone will be disappointed and that never good going into the playoffs. But I’m much more confident after yesterday of making it… in a game where to be honest we didn’t get out of second gear and didn’t bring half the energy of the Cheltenham game! We toyed with them…

I thought Chaplin was very busy and energetic yesterday, didn't have a bad game by any means.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

He was incredible running yes.

Unfortunately the football aspect of the game he was terrible, again.

Harness and Edwards in the 10s for me.

a niche perspective

Humprheys is only going to get better the more he plays. If I was Evans, I wouldn't want to be giving that young lad an extended run in the side, otherwise he's going to find it tough to get back in when he becomes available again. Burgess with his physical presence and his left foot makes such a difference on that side, it's not the same for a right footer to play in that position, it cuts off certain angles and invariably you're bringing the ball back in field, instead of opening the play up. I'd be looking to play Leigh there when he returns from injury instead of Edmundson 'IF' Burgess is unavailable in the future. I can only see Edmundson coming back in if Woolfenden is injured or suspended.

Competition can only be good for us in going forwards.

The way we controlled the game in the second half was really encouraging, completely nullified them. That was a very good result especially with their recent good performances against Peterborough and Plymouth. That was certainly a potential banana skin avoided.

On Burns and Chaplin....their current form stands out because their bars have been so high in the past.

They are far from poor and it's not like we are carrying them.

And if we can get either or preferably both of them playing to their full potential… boom. Watch out L1

I think Chaplin is a bit like Jamma or Roger Osborne

he does a lot of work, does all the grunt work, it isnt pretty but its effective and he gets very little credit for it

The difference with the other two he is expect him to be at his mercurial best all the time as well
