I see the Qatar fans have got away early to beat the traffic again.... (n/t) 14:58 - Nov 25 with 1294 viewsDubtractor

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

They're hopeless aren't they. Are they under curfew?

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Doesn't exactly scream 'football mad' nation does it?

Just another of the many, many, reasons it shouldn't be there.

8 think I've been to 600+ professional games and can honestly say I've never left before the end. A couple of 6-0s away at Blackpool and Leicester in recent years were very hard to watch and the midweek 4-0 at Burnley was the worst I've witnessed but imho you see it through to the end. I see people routinely leave on 80-85 minutes. Nowadays, that means they miss 15-20 minutes of the game! As far as the Qataris are concerned, you just can't buy everything and they haven't got their heads around it!

To be 100% fair to them, they stayed at home in droves to beat the traffic too.

I saw a lot of people online saying that fans were leaving to pray during the opening game, but it seems to have been refuted by one of the Athletic's journalists.

In fairness, leaving early from a run of the mill league game when losing at home to someone like Lincoln, is a bit different to a once in a lifetime tournament where your country is playing on a stage that they have never played on before and probably never will again. And it wasn't a handful of people, it was half the stadium, much like in their first game. Plus in fairness to the team they actually had a go in the second half.

Although yesterday was Friday, aren't Friday prayers the most important prayers?
Whereas the first game was on Sunday.
Certainly the BBC were reporting the prayer rooms at the stadium were full

Well I don't know, but I believe the Maghrib prayer time was about 4.45pm Qatar time yesterday, which is roughly half time for their fixture isn't it? I don't know enough to know if that is as important as it sounds, but I think the Maghrib prayer is technically the first of the Muslim day as it falls around sunset. One thing this shows is that our media has not done a good job of explaining some of our cultural differences, as even they seem unsure amongst themselves.

Quite a few of our 'fans' leave early at every game, regardless of the score or quality of match
