Burnley away following on Saturday 12:44 - Jan 30 with 2271 viewsStenvict

How come Burnley sold out their allocation and filled the away end including Block E, but their away following was only c. 1500 compared to Plymouth/Pompey who filled the same section but was given as over 2k?

It may well have been a case of Burnley's confidence in selling a maximum allocation? I wouldn't be surprised, given the impact of away allocations on home attendance, if we don't offer sale-or-return on away tickets over and above the minimum-required allocation, meaning that away clubs will be on the hook for whatever allocation they're unable to sell.

As it was the FA Cup I assume we will have had to offer them the option of 3,000 tickets first. The allocation will have been based on what they requested afaik.

The point I'm trying to make is that they used Block E, the same as teams in L1 that request the full allocation, but there seems to be 500/600 seats unused in the away end. I was just wondering how that's happened.

Sheff Wed will have the same areas, but their attendance will no doubt be over 2k.

Don’t think the back few rows were sold.

Thought they would have had to offer around 4,400 initially, as away allocation is 15% for FA cup games?

Presumably the answer is that they requested their full allocation but didn't manage to sell all their tickets.

Burnley are averaging something like 2500 for away games this season

I appreciate they are having a great season and have probably gained fans from being in the Premier League, however they're never a club you would have down as that well supported

Funny how times change!

Yes, you're probably correct as I remember Lincoln took the entire upper Cobbold.

I did miss your point the first time. As has been said I assume there were patches that were not sold, but it did look pretty full. The lower section was pretty much empty too I think.

Bought tickets but weren’t enough cars up there to steal to get here.

Some are arriving by cart horse today, though.
