A lot of these deals are structured in a way where there's various add ons at stages of development and future success. I imagine the up front fees are relatively small.
Is Ryan Carr any relation to Alan Carr off of the telly? I notice Phil's article said he was previously at Newcastle where Alan Carr's dad Graham was involved for a long time in a senior scouting capacity.

We would have got the lad from Carlisle on the cheap. He had only been with them a couple of years so any compensation due would be peanuts. Looks like Ashton offered peanuts plus a packet of cheese and onion crisps, an offer they couldn’t refuse. Hopefully, for Carlisle, there will be a sell in clause.
