Saw, I just bought a horse on 18:27 - Feb 24 with 914 views | Ryorry | Btw, any recommendations for best saw for fallen tree branches ranging in diameter from about 2 - 9 inches please? Currently have a Stanley Jetsaw about 2 feet long, but some of the (quite large) teeth have broken over the years. Also seeking recommendations for best oil for wooden handles of garden tools.

If it's green wood, personally I'd just buy a bow saw, they're not expensive and neither are blades with the advantage of being quick and easy to change. One of our horticultural types may have a better suggestion though.

Thanks, do you have to use them 2-handed though? Would prefer 1-hand only. The wood varies from old & semi-green (what I'm currently working on - branches of an old chestnut that had half split away a while ago only fully came down in the gales of a couple of weeks ago) to occasionally completely green if I'm trimming. Good point about being able to swap blades tho.

Nope, one handed and come in a variety of lengths, they will pretty much go through anything timber wise, just not that neatly.

Would you not consider a small Husqavarna or Stihl chainsaw? The smallest one, that's all you need for logging is probably around £250. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just ordered one of these online (dry wood blade fitted, with a wet wood blade as spare). Wouldn't have thought of a bow saw if you hadn't suggested, ta 👠https://www.spear-and-jackson.com/products/garden-tools-outdoor-living/razorshar

Thanks, but life is currently quite challenging enough without £250 for a chainsawsaw, petrol storage, safety course, safety trousers, (and/or alternative of losing a limb, hospitalisation, rehab & prosthetic limb) 😂 😂

Well, when you put it that way . Though with the price of fuel at that mo it would probably pay for itself pretty quickly. Probably won't save enough to cover the cost of a prosthetic limb though

Oil for wood? Try turnip oil. You take one fresh turnip, halve it and rub it all over the handle. Turnips are great. ‘People are smoking them, building houses out of them… They’ll be eating them next’ (With thanks to Blackadder, Season 2 Episode 3 - Potato)

I got quite a lot of trees to bring down over next few months Swansea. How much you charging? And do you own adequate PPE if needed?

It’s a bit too chilly in Leitrim for me. Plays havoc with my nips!
