Seems to be a thing both here and in the US.

Yesterday we had Carlsen trying to basically push the narrative that January 6th Capitol attack didn't happen and we had republicans calling the SVB depositors guarantee a "woke bailout" because the bank funded "woke garbage" such as "climate change solutions".

People simply like hearing things that re-enforce their internal narrative. Social media started this and now the people in power have seen it's effectiveness and simply run with it. It's almost irrelevant to them what they say, as long as it aligns with their supporters narrative.
