After Trump was arrested I suggested that it would work in his favour and gather him more support.

The hope is that why it solidifies the votes he has it may just turn away enough of those with a few brain cells who might have otherwise considered him.

This may strengthen the support of people who were backing him already (and many in the US will vote Republican whoever the candidate is), but I doubt it will attract many swing voters or wavering moderates. And Trump needs those to stand a chance of winning. Won't play well with the Evangelicals, either.
