Defence 09:34 - Apr 23 with 1258 views | pennblue | We will learn a lot about whether our defence is good enough Tuesday night. Good chance for Wolf and Burgess to show they can step up and handle top strikers. Cole looks dangerous inside the box and they have Phillips and Norwood along with goals throughout that side. It will be tough but i would like to see fewer chances given than Posh had yesterday as they had 2 or 3 decent chances and i suspect Barnsley will be more clinical. We need to be first to the ball inside our box, if we give them a sniff they will score and the best way to deal with this match is to keep the home crowd quiet.

Nah we need to obsess over everything that could go wrong so that if anything does go wrong someone can smugly say they saw it coming. Very odd. [Post edited 23 Apr 2023 10:54]

Defence on 10:29 - Apr 23 with 1107 views | FrimleyBlue | There are 2 teams involved in a match Posh having 2/3 chances would have been expected. Same as Tuesday. Barnsley Will have chances. They are close to 20 headed goals in the league.. we will be busy. But we are also the leagues best attacking team.. so like Posh how will Barnsley set up against us. Many Posh fans said they changed style yesterday.. will Barnsley .

Defence on 10:42 - Apr 23 with 1060 views | grow_our_own | What worries me is if we have a relatively ambiguous approach to Tues. I expect Barnsley will go all guns blazing. Only a win keeps their hope of autos alive, play-offs are guaranteed. Nothing to lose. For us, a point is a decent result, since our last two matches are easier on paper. But if we lose, then it leaves us needing to win them both. My concern is that we'll be in unfamilier territory. Instead of our usual positive, attacking game, we'll try to hang onto a draw. Personally, I'd like to take the identical attitude that has served us so well in the final third of the season. We can lose this, and it's still in our hands. No fear. Usual aggressive possession game. Take the game to Barnsley and exploit the holes they'll leave. On our day, we are better than them.

Still think Barnsley gaffa has to think longer term with this. To get autos they have to win and town to lose both final games... likely? No. Therefore. You would surely as a sensible manager be wanting Wednesday in play offs rather than ipswich.

Just watched the football league show And if you listen to them bellends Barnsley have just got to turn up… And pretty mush saying that then Wednesday Will turn us over in the run in 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mentioned their great home form but said nothing about the facts That we’ve won 12 out of 13 anywhere… ðŸ›Žï¸ ends

Can't see Barnsley changing much tbf. They are on a record run of results at home. (nb, without facing us yet. The countries leading goal scorers) Yes, they'll be times we need to defend, as expected in any tough away game. The game could go either way. Or end a draw.. But after beating Bolton, Derby, and Posh away, without conceding. I just don't think we should be going into this one with any fear... Forget our amazing squad, we've got a brilliant manager and coaching staff, that will do everything possible to get a result, pre match prep as well as in game...Doesnt guarantee anything, but as mentioned, we shouldn't be fearful of Barnsley...I can tell you now, their lot will be having more doubts than our lot.. Imo. Yesterday was an equally tough fixture. And turned out to be a massive statement away win, under a bit of pressure.. I'd love to be part of our dressing room , right now. The belief and faith in one another, must be off the scale.. And that counts for an extra man, imo. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Defence on 10:56 - Apr 23 with 963 views | smithy69 | I think over the course of the year - and the last 15 games - our defence is good enough :). A very weird thing to post IMO We are the top team in Europe in any league over the last 15 games. Let them worry about us :) I genuinely can’t see anything but a good 2-0 or 3-0 win. We shouldn’t Be scared of anyone

Good point.... When Walton saved his low shot to the left, straight after the other point blank save.. JCH, looked like he knew, it wasn't going to be their day..

I don't think that there's any chance that we'll try to hang on for a draw, either as a managerial strategy or as a response to what goes on out on the pitch. Whilst our football itself is a delight to watch, I've also been incredibly impressed with the emotional control we've shown, particularly in the last few months. There's not one of the usual starters or regular subs who looks like they are playing with any nerves or fear of mistakes (occasional mistakes are just absorbed by all the team almost instantly). For one or two of the less regular subs, the pressure of trying to get more game time might impact more on their steadiness, but for the bulk of the squad they're ice, ice baby!
