I wonder how much The Greyhound made yesterday? 13:06 - Apr 30 with 2374 views | MaySixth | I had to sack it off when I saw 30/40 people queing to get served but fair play on the pop-up beer dustbin.

I wonder how much The Greyhound made yesterday? on 13:48 - Apr 30 with 2189 views | DJR | They ran out of the bottled beer they were selling at the entrance. Incidentally, my friends have been going there for years before a game but in recent months have had to get there earlier and earlier to secure a table so they could eat. Yesterday, for the first time they had to stand outside. [Post edited 30 Apr 2023 13:50]

It’s just one example of the impact a successful footie team has on the local economy. More food being ordered so more orders for the local suppliers, more beer from local breweries, staff needed to cook, serve and clean - and that’s just 9ne pub. Got to be good hasn’t it.

Strangely the Black Horse didn't do their pies as they didn't think they would cope! Missed opportunity surely.

I wonder how much The Greyhound made yesterday? on 16:15 - Apr 30 with 1765 views | stonojnr | they sold 900 pints before the last home game, so easily matched that I reckon. whether that translates into "how much did they make" is another question entirely, turnover doesnt necessarily equate to profit. a busy pub isnt necessarily making lots of money if their margins are very thin, and their costs will have risen astronomically this year, in some ways they need days like that to cover days like a typical non football Saturday. and I dont know if these are extra people eating/drinking in town, or simply people just heading there as a focal point for club supporters thesedays. other pubs in the town arent so busy pre match, and not all are post match, even with bumper crowds its very noticeable how quickly trade drops off till the Sat evening crowds start to form. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I’d have thought pies would be a no brainer, easy to serve etc.

This exactly. Without a successful football team Ipswich really has nothing to generate business for retailers. [Post edited 30 Apr 2023 16:42]

Not really irksome but we do joke that they ought to get some sort of preference for not being Johnny-come-latelies.
I wonder how much The Greyhound made yesterday? on 19:43 - Apr 30 with 1220 views | clive_baker | The buzz in town post match was electric all night. Think a number of the pubs will have done well out of it, good on them.
