The 4th of July has been and gone, so that can only mean one thing… 15:41 - Jul 18 with 1134 views | emergencylime | …time to launch Major League Cricket in the US. Yes, MLC appears to be a thing. T20 rules, 6 teams. - San Francisco Unicorns - MI New York - Seattle Orcas - Los Angeles Knight Riders - Texas Kings - Washington Freedom Texas seem to be the favourites but i have a good feeling about Seattle. 7 matches played so far, the Grand final is on July 30. All of the above is true.

Cricket is slightly less dull than baseball so maybe it’ll catch on. Give it a couple hundred years and we may have an answer.

I do my best to avoid rugby but I’m vaguely aware of its existence over here. Used to work with a bloke who played rugby here in some local league. His ears were disfigured and his head had an odd-shaped lump across his forehead.

All games are either at a stadium in Texas, or one in North Carolina. Americans don’t have to understand the rules to enjoy sport.

Just googled that and there’s 12 teams in the American League which is two more than what is in the Rugby Premiership over here. Is rugby Union over here really badly mismanaged?

I think is fair to say that money has distorted the professional game in England and to a greater extent Wales and Scotland Ireland seem to be able to have managed it better. I know the owner of one the US teams and it's interesting to hear him speak about how the game there is developing, particularly in poorer areas where the cost of US football kit is becoming prohibitive

I assumed the crowds would mostly be Indians and Pakistanis, some West Indians. This best novel I ever read , 'Netherland' by Joseph O'Neill, is about cricket in NYC.
