It’s definitely a specialist striker we need, as opposed to another wideman, a goal scorer.

Agreed. 2 out and out number 9s and then 2 or 3 who can play there or out wide is the perfect blend.

Broady is injury prone, we’ve then got Hutchinson or harness as players that can play that role, is that really good enough? Really feel like we need to actually put our hands in our pockets and buy an out and out winger to push the 2 behind the striker / burns. At the moment they don’t have anyone getting close to them

Scarlett can play in the Broadhead role.

But this is the issue I feel we always seem to have, it’s players that ‘can play in the role’ but they aren’t actually specialised in the role and therefore don’t necessarily perform to the level we’d need them to. I think the fact is we haven’t improved our starting 11 from last season (which isn’t a problem as the players deserve a chance to perform) but we don’t seem to have anyone that is knocking on the door to even push these players out of the 11.

But we play an asymmetric hybrid system that most teams don't play. So McKenna is making a judgement about whether a player has the football intelligence, character and other attributes to fit his system, even if they haven't played it before.

I agree and that’s fine, as you say we play a different style to most teams. That still doesn’t stop the fact we haven’t made our 11 stronger or got anyone that’s really knocking the door down. Still we’ve got the rest of the day to see what can be done, just feel we’ve not had that WOW signing this summer that we probably all expected.
