Back to our snappy best in the first half, unlucky to go behind and should have got another goal (at least) ourselves but did well.
What’s lacking at the moment is the squad depth and fitness to change games late on. We didn’t have direct running threat off the bench today and so whilst we brought good players on, they didn’t look to stretch the game. Burns, Hirst and Clarke potentially being back for the last week of the season adds plenty of that.
It’s been a weird and kind of frustrating way to do it, but we are top of the league after a week in which we’ve lost to Norwich and haven’t won a game. It is entirely in our hands and whilst we haven’t capitalised, we certainly don’t look the wobbliest of the contenders. It will probably help us to know exactly what we need from our games given the way the fixtures fall, but I’d like to think now that two wins out of three will see us over the line. Yep completely agree – that was a good game and we played really well for the most part against a side that we know likes going toe to toe with the promotion contenders. Looked sharp and with a couple more players fit, as you say, we probably have the tools to make it count. I get the frustrations, and of course feel them, because it could have been a spectacularly good day – but it's still a good one and we are in a quite incredible position.
Permutations for the next few weeks are dizzying, everyone has it fairly tough on paper, can't help sensing we may be in for a four-way shootout at the end. But what an absolute marvel that we're in this situation with three to play – won't hear a single complaint from me. [Post edited 13 Apr 2024 18:57]

Says it all. Luckily we dominate and create so much when we’re on top that we can afford to miss a few. Sometimes it costs us though, like in the week and today. We really should have 4 more points - the performances warrant it. If we could be a bit more clinical we’d be unstoppable and ridiculously far ahead, so that’s probably unrealistic! Imagine a Marcus Stewart in this side - he’d have a field day. |  |
