I've no idea how reliable this Twitter account is, but £20m for a guy who's never started in the league is a lot. A big old lot. He didn't even get a start in the league cup. I think the only start he's made is in the euro conference whatnot against Hibs.

His price is inflated as in a ‘separate’ transfer, they are selling Ian Maatsen to Villa for c£40m. Conveniently, both transfers put a sizeable chunk of pure profit on the books of each club in exchange for a smaller amortised outlay. Coincidentally both clubs are trying to get under the FFP bar by the end of June
It’s the same type of deal as Juve/Barca pulled a few years back when they both had FFP issues, and Villa/Everton and Everton/Newcastle also both seem to be brewing up something similar with other transfers

Naughty FFP machinations aside, my other positive spin: Chelsea are signing this younger Omari because they rate him higher than our own. Ours has made two sub appearances for them across all comps and isn't regarded at the level to improve their team, hence why they're acquiring more young talent to compete in his positions. Villa's Omari has more PL appearances than ours (by one lol) and has done it at a younger age, in a better team. Therefore ours should sell for less, if he is sold this summer. | | | |
